Burkhard Scharf’s contribution to investigation of Ostracods (Crustacea, Ostracoda)

 Abstract

Burkhard Scharf's list of scientific publications comprises 26 papers dealing with the freshwater Ostracoda. The publications mainly provide data on the distribution, the ecology, the life-cycle and the taxonomy of the species recorded. Both extant and fossil ostracods were reported from several lakes. B. Scharf has developed a new dredge for ostracods dwelling in and on the bottom mud of lakes and ponds. One species was described as new from Germany. The habitats investigated are mainly located in Germany, others in France, Sweden, and the Balkans.
